QuickSplit ("the App," "we," "us") is developed to help you split bills with friends and family. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how.
No account required
QuickSplit does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email address, or any other personal identifier to use the App.
Information you enter into the App
When you use QuickSplit, you may enter:
- Bill details: amounts, tips, currency, and an optional title (e.g. "Dinner at Nobu")
- Names of the people you're splitting a bill with
- An optional location tag for a bill (when location access is allowed, QuickSplit tags each new bill with where it was saved; you can turn this off at any time with the “Location” toggle on the New Bill screen or in iOS Settings, and you can always decline the iOS location permission prompt)
This information is stored on your device and, if you are signed into iCloud, is synced privately to your own iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit private database. We do not operate our own servers that store your bill data, and we do not have access to it. Your bill data, names, and location tags are never shared with other users of the App or with any third party. (Advertising partners receive the limited technical information described under “Advertising” below, never your bill data.)
Location data
QuickSplit asks for your permission to use your device's location, using the standard iOS location prompt, and does nothing with location unless you allow it. If you allow it, and the in-app Location toggle on the New Bill screen is on (it is on by default), QuickSplit tags each bill you save with your location at that moment, once, to resolve a place name for that bill. QuickSplit does not track your location in the background. You can switch the toggle off at any time, or revoke permission in iOS Settings. To turn your coordinates into a place name, the device sends them to Apple's mapping service (via Apple's standard geocoding), which is governed by Apple's privacy policy. The resulting location is stored only as part of that bill record, following the same private, on-device/iCloud-synced storage described above. QuickSplit does not send your device's GPS location to Google or any other advertising or analytics service.
Advertising
QuickSplit displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob to support the free version of the App. To serve, measure, and secure ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the App may collect and process:
- Device identifiers and your IP address (from which Google may infer your approximate, city-level location)
- Advertising data, such as which ads were requested, shown, or tapped
- App usage and interaction data related to ads
- Diagnostic, performance, and crash data about the ad SDK
This data is collected by Google and handled under Google's own policies; QuickSplit does not receive it. Learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and read Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
QuickSplit uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. On first launch, iOS asks whether you allow QuickSplit to track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you choose “Allow”, Google may receive your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to serve more relevant ads and measure them. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, Google does not receive the IDFA, and you will still see ads, which may be less relevant to you. You can change this choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Your bill data, names, and location tags are never used for advertising or tracking.
For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, QuickSplit displays a consent form before showing ads, as required by applicable law, and no ad is requested until your choice is recorded. You can review or change this choice at any time via Settings → Privacy Options (shown in regions where this is required).
If you'd prefer not to see ads, QuickSplit offers a one-time "Remove Ads Forever" in-app purchase.
In-app purchases
QuickSplit offers one optional purchase ("Remove Ads Forever") processed entirely through Apple's App Store (StoreKit). QuickSplit does not receive or store your payment card information — that is handled directly by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
What we don't collect
QuickSplit itself does not include any analytics or crash-reporting service, does not collect your contacts, does not require camera or photo library access, and does not use your bill data to build an advertising profile of you. The only third-party data collection in the App is the advertising data described above. We do not sell your personal information.
Data deletion
You can delete any bill directly within the App at any time. Deleting the App from your device removes its local data; if iCloud sync is enabled, you can also manage or delete QuickSplit's iCloud data via your device's Settings app under your Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Your rights
If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you, and to withdraw consent for ads at any time via Settings → Privacy Options. Because QuickSplit does not operate servers that store your data, your bill data is controlled by you on your device and in your iCloud account. For data held by Google as an advertising provider, you can exercise your rights directly with Google. California residents: we do not sell or share your personal information as defined by California law. For any request, contact us at the email address below.
Children's privacy
QuickSplit is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date at the top of this page.
